Pete Krason - Rock

AMERICA NORTH: USA: Illinois (IL)

Pete Krason
 Influences:  Ray LaMontagne, Jeff Buckley

Artist Bio:

I'm a dedicated teacher in Chicago, Illinois who never left behind the compulsion to write music and join a band. Literally, from the cradle, I've been fixated on all things musical.

I was a concert baby, following my father's band around. When he died in 2001, he left behind his CD's and records of his music. Listening to his voice and playing brought me back to memories of times he spent in the basement practicing.

Hearing the recordings was hearing his soul captured in peaks and troughs of a vinyl disc. I swear, in those listening sessions, I learned that music can be so real. It is a representation of yourself, whether you're wearing a mask in your songs or just being you. It's a sort of legacy. And in this world of uncertainty and impermanence, the promise of music is something enduring.

I guess when you experience a lot of loss from a young age, you tend to seek out forms of stability and latch on for dear life. Many times, that's been music for me, but of course, the art of it all is just as powerful.

I've been taking you for granted
Finally I sympathize
How do you put up with a guy like me?
How can you make that compromise?

When was the last time that I called you?
Just to say you're on my mind
That work is tough but when I'm thinking of you
It's not very hard to pass the time

You should know your smile is perfect
And you're always on my mind
That your dreams are not forgotten
And I'm mixing yours with mine

When you're so alone
You can count on me and how much better it will be

Sometimes you talk and though I'm listening
I don't speak or nod my head
There's just silence and a distance there instead
You feel numb but feel somehow you deserve it
Know your smile is perfect
And you're always on my mind
That your dreams are not forgotten
And I'm mixing yours with mine

When you're so alone
You can count on me and how much better it will be

I'm surprised
That you could find something in me
Something worth all of the anxiety

In you I've found something I can't live without
Let me change your point of view
I'll do anything to keep you

Seems like you've always been cheated
Your family, your friends, your job
You deserve the things thought only in your dreams
And that's what I will give to you

You should know your smile is perfect
And you're always on my mind
That your dreams are not forgotten
And I'm mixing yours with mine

When you're so alone
You can count on me and how much better it can be

Don't lose hope
It will be ok
Things get better today
