Artist Bio:
I'm a dedicated teacher in Chicago, Illinois who never left behind the compulsion to write music and join a band. Literally, from the cradle, I've been fixated on all things musical.
I was a concert baby, following my father's band around. When he died in 2001, he left behind his CD's and records of his music. Listening to his voice and playing brought me back to memories of times he spent in the basement practicing.
Hearing the recordings was hearing his soul captured in peaks and troughs of a vinyl disc. I swear, in those listening sessions, I learned that music can be so real. It is a representation of yourself, whether you're wearing a mask in your songs or just being you. It's a sort of legacy. And in this world of uncertainty and impermanence, the promise of music is something enduring.
I guess when you experience a lot of loss from a young age, you tend to seek out forms of stability and latch on for dear life. Many times, that's been music for me, but of course, the art of it all is just as powerful.
