Artist Bio:

The Winter Kings (formerly "The Prodigal Songs of Jesus") create lyrically interesting alternative music with an intelligent edge. Based in Cambridge, England, The Winter Kings play actively on the local scene. Although the band is still developing their sound, they have been described by some as " an accessible, more electric Nick Cave".

Hung across a grey sky, like red vein in tired eyes,
And the sun shed itself on what was left of us there,
As our bodies curved self-conscious...
To carry the starry scars of our love, trampled underneath...
All the untold histories that we keep
Trampled underneath

And you keep me trampled underneath

You turn to me in the quiet
To watch me tired, let you in
and the waves watched you wander there, beneath my skin
and the night and all its lies led me here to let you in
So now as all rises, I want to hear what must be said
Underneath the fires something must've bled
And I crave a word to freeze us, and make this innocence last
I crave a word...

I want to hear that we crawled out over all the stones we cast
I want to hear that we built something
with all the stones we cast
I want to hear that we hit something with all the stones we cast,
I want to hear that we kept something that might last...

A stone's throw away.

Lyrics: Click To View Or Hide Song Lyrics
Forgive me a few fallen words
Whatever meaning they had is spent
Between my hours of mourning
And your tired grief
The ground forever falters
As we try to find our feet

I'm just trying to find my feet

And the bottles between us
Like a company of ghosts
And pious like a priest
I try to exorcise
But through your teeth
Your tongue taste lies
I can't even remember to apologise

I'm buffeted by your breath
A butterfly breeze
Could've sworn I was standing
Till you pulled me from my knees
And spoke from the gates to swear
Lover there's a reason
There's someone up there
Lover there's a reason
There's someone up there

And now my dreams are for you not of you
Now my dreams are for you not of you

The bottle's between us
Like the company of ghosts
And pious like a priest
I try to exorcise
But thru' your teeth
Your tongue taste lies
And I can't even remember
To apologise.
