Artist Bio:
Plasticsoul, an adult alternative/pop/rock band hailing from Los Angeles, California, began in 2003 as a façade for singer/songwriter/producer Steven Eric Wilson (not to be confused with British prog-rocker Steven Wilson of the band Porcupine Tree). During the writing and recording of their debut album Pictures From The Long Ago, Plasticsoul morphed from a one man band into a duo when long time collaborator Marc Bernal officially joined the lineup.
Recorded for the most part in the bedroom studio of 80’s New Wave Diva, Josie Cotton (“Johnny Are You Queer?”) and coproduced by the band and David McConnell (Elliott Smith, Wilco, Goldenboy) Pictures From The Long Ago was released in 2005 to critical praise from the press (“densely-produced, meticulously crafted pop” – Absolute Powerpop, “extraordinary talent” – Not Lame, “sonically dynamic pop” – AmericanaUK) and received significant airplay on college radio worldwide.
Plasticsoul spent the next few years performing around the globe (Steven recently did a solo performance at a house concert in Goa, India) while writing and recording tracks for what would become their sophomore effort Peacock Swagger (scheduled for release in December 2009). Produced by Steven and Marc, and recorded almost entirely in the band’s Los Angeles studio The Ranch, Peacock Swagger has already begun to garner praise. The song “Fishwife” lifted from the album for inclusion on the 2009 International Pop Overthrow compilation CD was called a “pop gem” and “jangly sparkler” by Eric Sorenson in his review for Jangle On!
During the recording of this new album Plasticsoul once again experienced a metamorphosis when the group expanded from a duo to a fully-fledged, five piece, rock and roll fighting unit with the edition of Daniel Conrad on guitar, Kevin Holden on drums, as well as multi-instrumentalist and 2009 Hollywood Music Award nominee Brandon Schott.
International performances are currently being scheduled in support of Peacock Swagger. Writing and recording is currently underway for Plasticsoul’s yet untitled 3rd album as well as a solo album of material written during Steven’s travels to India.
