Heart of the Night Show
The TransAtlantic Acoustic Show brings you Folk, Blues, Alt Country, Bluegrass, and even a classically structured guitar or piano tune once in a while. Whatever the genre, it is always acoustic.

Hosts Sam Salter (UK) and jill no jack (US) try to keep the silliness to a minimum, but they freely admit it is a goal at which they sometimes fail. They feel extraordinarily contrite about this but have no plans at this time to change their ways.
The Heart of the Night Show features Rock, Pop, Contemporary Folk, and music from other genres when it fits with the show. If it's great music, Jill is likely to drop it in!

Host jill no jack claims she is always in a "midnight frame of mind". Not really being able to decipher what that means, we have decided she probably means that she is really, really tired. Despite that, she always does her best to play great Indie tunes.

Playlists and Show Notes for Current Shows

Heart of the Night Show, Aug. 28th, 2008 (#69)
POSTED BY: jillnojack 27 Aug 2008 02:06 AM

Is everyone enjoying the summer as much as I wish I was? You see, while you were out enjoying a fabulous summer night with your interesting and exotic friends, I was stuck in a room with no air conditioning cutting up little bits of audio. Not that I'm whining, mind you. Really.

This week's playlist:

Cold Taxi - Old School Radio

The Teddy Boys - Not There

Jimi Pocius - Day After Day

Braintoy - Theft Prevention -- Vehicles CD at iTunes

crashtv - Swim -- Sound Put CD from CDBaby.com -- CD or single songs from iTunes

Plan A - Fallen -- The Earth Dilemma MP3 CD from Amazon.com -- CD from iTunes

That's it for this week's show! I am hard at work re-inventing IndieHeart once again, which is why the shows seem to take longer and longer to get out. The problem with the entire reinvention thing is that it always seems to take me about a year to get all the work done to recode the site and set up all of the things that need to happen when the site changes. Hopefully, it will be worth the effort with new ways for you to find music effortlessly!

Astute listeners to the show this week will have sussed that Sam was unavailable for the show this time. We ask that Sam's many fans not panic and/or send us lots of hate mail. Sam *will* return as the show continues. However, unfortunately for the show (but fortunately for Sam), his life is so full of so many interesting things to do that he will only have the time to pick up the co-hosting reins on an intermittent basis.

Never fear though, the TransAtlantic Acoustic show remains transatlantic thanks to the delightful and loquacious musician/producer Peter Dahl Collins of the British Industrial Pop band, crashtv. Many, many thanks to Peter for agreeing to step in and accompany me on our worldwide acoustic journey tthis week!

This week's playlist:

Lizzie Nunnery - Pubs That Never Close -- Hungry Ep at CDBaby.com -- Hungry from iTunes

The James Clark Institute - Monstrous -- Sideshow Unattraction CD from CDBaby.com -- from iTunes

Paul Liddell - Brighter Lights -- New Thing Coming EP from iTunes

Blind Willies - Sinner's Medley -- Purchase the Everybody's Looking for a Meal CD direct from the band using PayPal on their CD store page or from iTunes

Moby.MK.II - Elegy

Alex Stangl - Make A Cup of Tea -- Purchase Alex's 150+ song MP3 CD, The Sherbrooke Sessions. You definitely can't beat the price at $20!

That's it for this week's playlist. And...it won't be four months before the next new show! Really.

P.S. I recently wrote a "how to" article for Google's new Knol pages to help people get started listening to podcasts. If you have a friend who looks at you like a deer in the headlights when you explain what a podcast is, it just might help them out. Tale a gander at Podcasts: Time-Shifted Radio if the fancy strikes you.

POSTED BY: jillnojack 08 Jul 2008 01:56 AM

The Heart of the Night Show returns from hiatus this week with songs from several new and fabulous CD releases, two new excellent female artists making their debut, and the same tired old DJ (was that woman *ever* cool????)

This week's subliminal message (really, it's subliminal, you barely notice it, right?) -- Go pick up the Sound Put CD by crashtv at CDBaby.com. This alarming act of consumerism will not do a darn thing for world peace or starving children in the third world, but it will put some absolutely fab music in your ears!

This week's playlist:

crashtv - fingernail -- Sound Put at CDBaby -- Sound Put from iTunes

Daniel Iorio - Hike (from the soon to be available Hike CD!)

Lizzie Nunnery - Hungry -- Hungry EP or single songs from iTunes -- EP from CDBaby.com

Headlights on the Coastline - A Striking Display -- Chandra Lier EP from iTunes

The James Clark Institute - Monstrous - SideShow Unattraction from CDBaby -- from iTunes

Megan Paige - Secret from the Megan Paige Demo 2008

That's it for this time. I hope you enjoy the show as much as I enjoyed putting it together for you!

Encore Episode: TransAtlantic Acoustic from February 13th, 2006
POSTED BY: jillnojack 25 May 2008 02:44 AM

As far as I can recall, this was the first show Sam and I released from the IndieHeart.com site. It wasn't our first show altogether, mind you...previously we had a "beta" version of the show from the original site Sam and I both DJed for. This was just the first show where we finally got the production values nailed down fully. It's really more difficult than you might image to produce a show with co-hosts who have never met and live in entirely different countries. For those of you who around back then (and there were very few), we hope the repeat performance is a pleasant one!

The playlist:

David Elias - Red Tail Guide -- Crossing CD from CDBaby.com (This is one CD you will want to have in high quality audio...it just sounds amazing!) -- CD from iTunes

Midnight Sweethearts - Wishing Well (You can download the full CD for free on the Midnight Sweethearts page

Wry Dawn - GGTGRG

Anne Davis - Journal Entries -- CD from CDBaby -- CD or single song from iTunes

Dan Tindall - No Fear -- Dan's CDs at CDBaby.com -- The Dan Tindall CD collection from iTunes

Ross Crean - Emily -- This Too Shall Pass CD from iTunes -- CD from CDBaby.com

That's it! We hope you enjoyed the show, and, as always, we hope you will help support your favorite IndieHeart artists by exploring the options to purchase a CD or your favorite song. Having a bit of dosh from their efforts helps keep the independent and unsigned artists you hear on the show solvent enough to continue making fantastic music for you!

Encore Episode: TransAtlantic Acoustic Show, November 13th 2006
POSTED BY: jillnojack 03 May 2008 12:34 AM

Let me tell you, the biggest drag about listening to all of the old episodes to pick the best ones to send out as encore episodes while Sam and I take a bit of a break is having to site through all of that nonsense again. I think I was particularly sleepy and incapable of pronouncing the English language with any degree of accuracy in this one. The music's great, though :-)

This week's playlist:

Guy Michetti - You're My Home -- CD at CDBaby.com -- CD at iTunes

Ady Ferguson - Getting Better -- CD at iTunes -- Get the full
Ady Ferguson
CD with a risk-free free trial at Emusic!

Thornton Creek - Politician Blues -- Get the song or Whiskey CD from iTunes or

Adrienne Pierce - Fool's Gold -- Grab an
Adrienne Pierce
CD from Emusic.com -- Get the song or EP from iTunes

Tim Tibbits - Monica -- Portraits CD from iTunes -- CD from CDBaby.com

Peter Roy Project - MD

That's it! We'll have another couple of encores before we return to getting together live with new music. We hope you're enjoying the repeat shows but miss us just a little bit :-P

Encore Episode: Heart of the Night Show, August 8th, 2006
POSTED BY: jillnojack 01 May 2008 12:23 AM

Tonight, I'm bringing back a show from late 2006. It has such a terrific mix of music! Several of the artists are those I've loved playing for years, but sadly, we have not had enough new music from them to be able to drop them into the shows as often as I like.

Without further ado, the playlist:

refrag - Madness

Carly and Mark - Dreamin' Of -- CD on the "About" page at carlyandmark.com

LoadPuller - Tug of War

Tim Tibbitts - Tell Me -- Portrait CD from iTunes

Melissa McClelland - White Lies (Stranded in Suburbia) -- Get the CD free with a trial subscription to Emusic.com on the Melissa McClelland page.

Daniel Iorio - Atisha's Lamp -- Get a second great CD from daniel iorio & ecclestone with your free Emusic trial subscription!

Misanthropy - Wheel

jill no jack - "Pop Princess" by Circle of Friends with jill no jack vocals

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That's it for this encore! I'll try to get another one (with a little less jnj) up for your listening pleasure next week. As always, lots of love and appreciation for listening in!

Heart of the Night Show, April 17th
POSTED BY: jillnojack 17 Apr 2008 02:22 AM

It's true, the Heart of the Night Show is also going to be taking a short break, with "Encore" episodes filling the gap until it returns in June. I sincerely hope that the terrific music in this episode tides you over until I return with new shows.

I'm just so tickled about this episode's exclusive track from crashtv. I'll try not to gush and just say that I dig their music. I hope you do, too (and you can even gush, if you'd like). Heart, from crashtv's upcoming CD, Soundput, is not available on the site, but you can hear lots of music from crashtv's previous CD until the new CD is released.

Of course, there's lots of other terrific music, but do you want to read or listen? The answer to that seems pretty much like a no-brainer to me. So, without further ado...

This week's playlist:

Our Funeral Forgotten - Whiskey & Wine -- CD from CDBaby -- CD from iTunes
crashtv - Heart -- Machinecod CD from CDBaby.com -- Machinecod CD from iTunes
Paul Liddell - Brighter Lights -- New Thing Coming EP from iTunes
Moby.MK.II - Escape Artist
Certain Stars - Slow Down Quickly -- Wired for Sound CD on iTunes -- CD from CDBaby.com
Headlights on the Coastline - Kerosene -- Chandra Lier EP from iTunes

That's it! I'll start posting those episodes of the show from the golden days (seriously, they're from like the '30's or 40's...back when I was cool) next week. Stay groovy until then!
